Food Allergy Awareness Week is May 14 - 21. The goal of the week is to increase awareness for the seriousness of food allergies and to increase compassion for the 15 million Americans living with food allergies.

One of the ways you can support someone you love who is affected by food allergies is to be conscientious about what you cook. Having several recipes on hand that are free of common allergens can be helpful.

This month each of our recipes are for kid-friendly snacks that are free of a common allergen.

If you or someone you love lives with a milk allergy, this pudding would make a sweet and safe ending to any meal!

Dairy Free Chocolate Pudding

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 cups soy milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

In small bowl, combine cornstarch and water to form a paste.

In large saucepan over medium heat, stir together soy milk, vanilla, sugar, cocoa and cornstarch mixture.

Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Continue to cook and stir until mixture thickens. Remove from heat. Pudding will continue to thicken as it cools. Allow to cool five minutes, then chill in refrigerator until completely cool.
